RCR participates with Musicians On Call!

Looking forward to it! Musicians On Call, a nonprofit organization formed in 1999, brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities.  Musicians On Call uses music to promote and complement the healing process for patients, families and caregivers.

About:
Musicians On Call was originally founded by Michael Solomon and Vivek Tiwary in the course of their volunteer work with The Kristen Ann Carr Fund at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

After a concert sponsored by the Kristen Ann Carr Fund, a hospital staff member raised the issue that some of the patients had been unable to attend the performance either because they were in treatment or too sick to leave their rooms. In response, Michael, Vivek and the musician went from room to room to play for those patients who had been unable to attend the concert. The one-on-one interaction of patient and musician created a crucial intimacy; the expressions on the faces of friends and family members at the patients' bedsides revealed a deep sense of connection and release. Musicians On Call was born!

Red Carpet Rats Testing Different Waters

(PR) Nashville-based rock band, Red Carpet Rats (RCR), prove their sound has no boundaries by releasing two new singles to to two different radio formats.

Their memorable debut release titled "Photographic Memory" is heating up the airwaves of Adult Contemporary (AC) and Adult Album Alternative (AAA) stations. Hooking listeners with its up-tempo sound and witty lyrics, the song was a sure success.

While AC and AAA stations latched on to "Photographic Memory," rock programmers seemed to prefer the single's "b-side." So the follow up track called "Going To Hell" was released to rock radio soon after "Photographic Memory" debuted. Having a harder, darker connotation, the song was perfect for rock formats. Independent horror film director George Demick immediately took a liking to the song and re-cut a scene in his upcoming release "Dead Start" so that "Going To Hell" could be featured in his film.

Program Directors nationwide are realizing RCR is more than your average pop rock band. Jonathon Lehmann from WPNR says, "Red Carpet Rats are melody pounding rock stars who could be compared to U2... their music has an ageless quality that will keep their music spinning constantly because it never gets old."RCR has executives everywhere taking a second look. Richie Frieman from PensEyeView Magazine states, "This band is more than the latest rock-pop group to hit the circuit. They are here with obvious ambition, a principle held up by sharp lyrics, memorable riffs and unparalleled style... a prime example of what upcoming bands should strive to create."

Their new album "Year of the Rat" on Chauffeur Records will be released in the fall. "Photographic Memory" is currently being featured on All Access' 'Cool New Music' Chart and has been added by internet upstart, trueAnthem (which yielded a sponsorship with Old Navy) and is available at Hot Topic locations and on TouchTunes digital jukeboxes nationwide. The EP can also be found on iTunes, Rhapsody and Amazon. They are one of Airplay Direct's spotlight artists and will be highlighted in New Music Weekly's independent artist issue. Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee (PCAT) teams up with Nashville-rockers, Red Carpet Rats, to promote awareness of the charity's programs that assist local families.

Red Carpet Rats (RCR) will serve as the new "spokesband" for PCAT, providing entertainment at the charity's events, speaking at local school assemblies and mentoring young fathers as part of "The Kids Don't Come With Instructions" program. RCR's latest single "Photographic Memory" will be featured as the organization debuts their catalog of "Photographic Memories, 25 Years in the Making."  In December, the band will kick off PCAT's annual Jingle Bell 5K Run with an outdoor concert.

CHAUFFEUR mentioned in RCR's Nine5Four Magazine interview!

Randall B. Jones, COO and Editorial Director of Nine5Four The Magazine, caught up with Uni a while back and below is a bit of the resulting 4-page interview and feature. The entire piece, entitled "THE RATS ARE INVADING THE WORLD" which mentions Chauffeur Records will be available on www.redcarperats.com soon.

"You can put RCR in a time capsule and bury it...then dig it up in the year 2020...and the music would still be a hit! Yes, they are that good!" - Randall B. Jones

Most people are afraid of rats, but I believe they would welcome this new breed of rodent with open arms. I'm not exactly talking about the pests you would call the exterminator for, instead, there is a four man band that goes by the moniker of Red Carpet Rats whom has a catchy pop/rock style that is making the industry pay close attention.

I've read so many positive reviews about the band that its mind blowing. How does it feel to receive such praise from so many different outlets?

Uni: If you'll allow me my James Brown moment, which will hopefully pave the way for a future rooftop Almost Famous moment, "it feels good". And funny, cause like I always say, "Everyone might not like Red Carpet Rats, but they should!" You never know how the general public is gonna react to any kind of art one makes, so to have so many say such positive things about a relatively unknown band is actually overwhelming. And I say relatively unknown because we still have relatives in our own families who don't know what we're up to. But they will, by God, they will. And ya know, I've always heard that you're not supposed to read reviews, but hell, why not. The good ones anyway. Besides, it's always interesting to hear someone else's take. Just remember, if you believe the good ones, you also have to believe the not-so-good-ones, which I don't, but that's a whole other therapy session entirely.

Let's talk about this E.P. that's doing so well for you. What is the title and tell me about the success it has achieved.

Uni: Yes, yes, let's. The E.P., on Chauffeur Records, is called, 'Rug Burns' and has done spectacular business for us here at camp RCR. They've actually stopped production on them to prep for the new CD 'The Year Of The Rat,' so if you've got one, congrats! Every song off of the recording has received radio airplay and it has garnered, dare I say, raves around the world. One went so far as to say I was cross between Chris Cornell and Ben Hurley, who after an exhaustive internet search I discover is . . . a comedian. A comedian! Fantastic. 'Rug Burns' has also enabled us to be the feature artist on quite a few of these radio stations, which in turn, has gained us all kinds of additional exposure. It's surpassed all expectations we may have had for our first effort. Big time! And in those rare moments of clarity, which happen once about every six months, we're blown away at how incredible response has been and are quite humbled.

What can the fans expect from your up-coming CD release?

Uni: More of the same. The same what you ask? Shame on you. You should know by now what to expect from RCR. Good-old fashioned, school's out, big blockbuster, summer fun. It's Will Smith versus the aliens. Russell Crowe against the Romans. The underdog of all underdogs fighting for truth, justice and your entertainment dollar. I like to think that listening to RCR is like riding the Cyclone at Coney Island, where you might feel a little light-headed afterwards, but man it was fun while it lasted. Now where was I? Oh yeah, our up-coming Chauffeur release, "The Year Of The Rat" is chock-full of finger-licking good McCabe production spread out over eleven songs of faith, hope, and misery . . . naturally!

CHAUFFEUR’s own RCR in Australia’s Fusion Magazine!

A few weeks ago, Red Carpet Rats' Uni had a conversation with Jacqui Duong from Australia's Fusion Music Magazine. Here is an excerpt from that interview, which will be posted in its entirety on www.redcarpetrats.com soon.

Fusion: Who was your music idol growing up?

Uni: Who you're talking to today is a fusion, hey, there's a plug for ya', of some of the most far-out singers, showmen, carnival barkers, ringleaders, auctioneers, and used car salesmen in history. But if pressed, I could just throw it in park at the letter F in the alphabet and go with either Frank Sinatra or Freddie Mercury.

Have you always wanted to play and record music, or did you imagine your adult life with a different job?

Ever since I can remember, I've imagined myself standing on a stage, singing, dancing, telling a few jokes, bowing, then running off into the wings. Seven years old with a dream of playing bars, clubs, arenas . . . hell, cruise ships, whatever! Traveling. Like a salesman, selling laughs. There, you just got one on the house!

Can you talk about some of the most important things you've learnt about playing music in a band?

The things you learn playing in a band are no different than what you learn in kindergarten. You learn to share. You learn to communicate. And most importantly, you learn that to get the attention of the prettiest girl in the room, you have to do something spectacular. Be it jumping headfirst off your desk into Paper-Mache City or stage-diving a crowd of people that parts like The Red Sea. The same principle applies in both cases.

What's your stance on drugs, sex and rock and roll?

My stance? Aggressive. Which is pretty much my stance on just about everything. Now I don't advocate doing anything that is harmful to yourself or to others, but I'm not one to be telling anyone how to live their life. And what's a drug today anyway? There are doctors out there who say that exercise is a drug, so what do you say to that? What's my stance on exercise? Let's see. What was the question again? Check out Fusion at http://www.fusionmusicmag.com/.
